The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Star Rating: ★★★★

The Hate U Give is often classified as a YA book, but it feels quite heavy for my YA readers at this moment. I suspect that as they become teenagers, they will be better able to grasp its subject matter. Overall, I loved this book, but it's not an easy read. However, I only had to read it; I didn't have to live it. Imagine experiencing this life as you read it because it's happening every day. It's an all-too-common story in our country.

The audiobook narrator did a fantastic job with tone, inflection, and little character nuances that I wouldn't have picked up on in print.
