Next To Heaven: A Novel By James Frey
Star Rating: ★★★
I asked for recommendations for fictional "Rich People Misbehaving" and this was suggested by a few people. It is definitely a qualifier in that genre. Set in an elite Connecticut town, the rich and the richer are constantly trying to outdo each other with their outlandish acts, resulting in a murder. The story is entertaining but I am docking it two points for two reasons. 1) I solved the murder early on, which left the rest of the reading not as exciting. 2) This seems to be a deliberate choice by James Frey, but the constant run-on sentences and poor grammar made it hard to read without wanting to break out the red pen.
